Improving the sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing of young people through behavioural, evidence driven communication initiatives and the provision of adolescents friendly services.

Teens Talk Foundation envisions a world in which young people have access to Sexual and Reproductive health Services and rights, and live healthy and productive lives.

Ensuring Safe And Meaningful Transition Of Adolescents Into Adulthood

WHAT WE DO

We design Innovative Behavioural Change Communication (BCC)                         magazines “Young Talk” and “Straight Talk” and IEC materials, Conduct regular Radio and TV pre-recorded talk shows, Mobilize and form information sharing “Teens Talk Clubs” in schools and communities that carry out bi-monthly open debates, all aimed at:

  • Addressing Body Changes at puberty so that young people are not overwhelmed by what is happening to them and take appropriate stress free steps knowing exactly what is going on.

  • Curbing the alarming statistics of Teenage pregnancy through advocating for abstinence and advising sexually active children to consider what they do.

  • Eradicating Alcohol and drug abuse amongst young people through creating awareness about their consequences thereby discourage those who haven’t started using them, encouraging them to stay in school and showing them safer alternatives. Identifying those already using, enrolling them into teens talk clubs and counselling sessions.

  • Elevating children’s self-esteem by encouraging them to believe in themselves and teaching them the dangers of self-pity.

  • Reducing the HIV/AIDS and STIs epidemic amongst young people by advocating for abstinence, safe sex practices and providing information on treatment and prevention.

  • Educating young people about the implications of Early and forced marriages.

  • Reducing cases of child labour that increases school dropout.

  • Promoting Children’s rights & responsibilities.

  • Providing professional advice regarding subject selection to grade 9 and 10 learners, offer advice to matriculants as to when, how and where they can go access bursaries and scholarships.

  • Disseminating Life skills, career guidance and counselling services.

  • Fully engage all stake holders to help achieve an effective, integrated, and sustainable system for adolescents’ health and wellbeing.

  • Expand knowledge of what works to reduce health and behavioural risks among adolescents and to effect positive youth development

  • Engage a variety of partners and stakeholders who can positively affect the lives and health of teens now and in the future

  • Promote, communicate and disseminate accurate information on the full range of issues related to adolescent health and behaviour to multiple audiences.
